Global Esports ousts host favorite EDward Gaming from VALORANT Champions Shanghai
Global Esports (GE) delivered a resounding victory in VALORANT Champions Shanghai, ousting hometown favorites EDward Gaming (EDG) in an elimination battle, 2-0, on Friday.
GE seized control of map one from the opening draft, storming ahead with a commanding 7–0 run on Sunset before Edward Gaming gathered four crucial defensive rounds to make it 8–4 in the half.
Any hopes of an EDG comeback were quickly erased in the second half, as GE asserted complete tactical dominance to wrap up a decisive 13–5 victory.
Lotus saw EDG strike first with an early three-round streak, but GE responded immediately, piecing together a massive seven-round spree to carry a 7–5 lead into the switch.
GE maintained their ruthless pace in the final half, stringing together six round win to close out the map 13–6 and claim a statement victory.
Savva ‘Kr1stal’ Fedorov is GE’s top frag, gaining 35 kills, 18 deaths, and 11 assist for his Fade performance.
Meanwhile, Pinoy fragger Patrick ‘PatMen’ Mendoza dominates Astra on Summit, gaining 21 kills, 12 deaths, and 10 assists.
Xavier ‘xavi8k’ Juan recovered in Sunset by gaining 13 kills, 12 deaths, and 10 assist on using his Omen skills.
With the win, GE will play against Americas’ LOUD, in a do-or-die match for a playoffs spot on October 4, 5 p.m. Manila time.
