Charo Santos reflects on 50-year career after receiving Dekada Award for Best Actress
Charo Santos took to social media to celebrate another milestone in her career after being named a Dekada Awardee for Best Actress for the film Kun Maupay Man It Panahon at the Golden Screen Awards.
On Instagram, Charo reflected on her five decades in the entertainment industry, writing: “50 years in this industry… and life still finds beautiful ways to surprise me. ✨️”
She went on: “Honoured to be a Dekada Awardee for Best Actress for Kun Maupay Man It Panahon, presented by the Multimedia Press Society of the Philippines.”
The veteran actress also expressed her gratitude to everyone who had been part of the film and her journey.
“Grateful to everyone who believed in this film and to the people who brought it to life. Most of all, grateful for the opportunity to tell stories that stay with us,” she said. “Thank you, Dekada Awards, for this recognition. It is a privilege to be part of Philippine cinema.”
Charo also congratulated her fellow honorees. “And congratulations to all my fellow awardees! What a beautiful honour to share this moment with you,” she remarked.
Fans were quick to congratulate the actress on her latest recognition.
“Congratulations Ms. Charo! So very well deserved,” one fan commented.
Released in 2021, Kun Maupay Man It Panahon follows the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines and centers on a young man searching for a missing loved one as per its IMDb.
Charo starred in the film alongside Daniel Padilla and Rans Rifol.
The movie was directed by Carlo Francisco Manatad.
In a December 2025 interview with Rolling Stone Philippines, Charo shared the qualities she looks for in films and series, saying that beyond innovation and entertainment, she values stories that leave a lasting emotional impact.
“Of course at the end of the day, ako ‘to ha, I look for stories that engage me. I look for stories that make me reflect about life, that leaves a lesson or two. I mean I go for the exciting part, the thrilling part, and all that stuff. But I want to take away some lesson or two. But tell me the way you want to tell me. That’s your call,” she shared.
