Weekend Agenda: Byeon Woo-seok, Janine Berdin, KapeCon and more
October keeps the momentum going with a weekend that has a little bit of everything — Korean stars, OPM favorites, Filipino ballet, contemporary theater, coffee, textiles, collectibles and even a gold-winning burger. Whether you’re looking for a big night out or something a little more niche, there’s plenty to explore. Here’s what’s worth stepping out for:

Korean actor Byeon Woo-seok returns to Manila for “The Secret Library”, the latest stop in his fan meeting tour. Best known for “Lovely Runner,” the actor previously visited the Philippines in 2025 for a brand-organized fan meeting. His more recent credits include “Perfect Crown.” Oct. 10 at SM Mall of Asia Arena

Janine Berdin moves her solo concert to Saturday, giving fans a chance to catch her live without worrying about school, work or the following day’s traffic. “Concert ni Janine Berdin” will feature special guests Kitchie Nadal, Yeng Constantino, Adie and ONE CLICK STRAIGHT. Berdin rose to fame after winning Tawag ng Tanghalan in 2018 and has since built a sizable streaming audience with nearly 6 million monthly Spotify listeners. Oct. 10 at New Frontier Theater, Cubao, Quezon City

JC Santos makes his theatrical directorial debut with “A Number,” in which he also stars alongside Bart Guingona. With a limited nine-show run, Caryl Churchill’s play follows a father who secretly clones his son, but this production gives the story a contemporary resonance by examining identity and control in an age increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence. Oct. 9–18 at Karrivin Studios, Makati

Ballet Manila brings Gerardo Francisco Jr.’s “Ibong Adarna” back to the stage, turning the classic Filipino tale of three princes and a magical bird into a showcase of music and movement. Shaira Comeros leads the Areté performances as Ibong Adarna, with Mark Sumaylo, Rafael Perez and Romeo Peralta as Don Pedro, Don Juan and Don Diego. Oct. 9, 7:30 p.m.; Oct. 10, 5 p.m. at Hyundai Hall, Areté, Ateneo de Manila University

The 16th Likhang HABI Market Fair brings together 86 brands, weavers and designers in 100 booths showcasing Philippine textiles and craftsmanship. This year’s highlights include 11 vintage gowns by Pitoy Moreno, Ben Farrales and Auggie Cordero, presented in collaboration with the Benilde Fashion Museum. The fair also features weaving competitions, lectures, film screenings, children’s workshops and products from textile communities around the country. Oct. 9–11 at One Ayala, Makati

Coffee lovers, this one’s for you. The second KapeCon takes over Paseo de Roxas with more than 68 participating brands, including more than 35 coffee brands, plus tasting sessions, brewing workshops, direct-trade showcases and coffee competitions. The event is free, with a chance to discover new Philippine coffee producers, compare beans and brewing methods, and inevitably go home with more coffee than you planned to buy. Free admission Oct. 10–11, 9 a.m.–10 p.m., at Paseo de Roxas, Makati

Pinoy rock favorites Barbie Almalbis and Kitchie Nadal share the stage for “CROSSFADE,” an intimate two-billed concert featuring long sets of classic hits and newer material. The two have previously performed together in the “Secrets” and “Tanaw” series, but this one-night show promises a more intimate setting. Oct. 11 at Matchpoint Sports Bar and Events, Mandaluyong

Mystery pulls, blind bags, collectibles and other wonderfully strange creations take over Ayala Malls Circuit for Gacha Universe: Second Pull. The event brings together artists and creators who interpret the gacha concept in unexpected ways, making this one for collectors, art-toy fans and anyone who enjoys the thrill of not knowing exactly what they’re getting.
