In his radio show Executive Session on DZRH, Remulla was discussing his office’s digitization efforts when he flagged the DICT.
“Nagkaproblema tayo sa DICT. Batang departamento ang DICT but [it] started off on the wrong foot,” the Ombudsman said on Saturday.
Asked about Aguda’s status, Remulla replied: “Nag-resign. Tinanggap na ‘yung resignation.”
ABS-CBN News reached out to Aguda and Malacanang to verify the resignation. Both have not sent a response as of posting time.
In September, the Ombudsman said it is conducting a fact-finding investigation on the alleged “ghost internet” of the DICT.
Under the purported scheme, contractors install “cheaper, outdated, or even fake software” for government agencies.
Aguda took over the DICT’s helm in March last year, replacing Ivan Uy. Just last Wednesday, he denied rumors that he is quitting his post.
