Apl.de.ap reveals why his attempt to pursue Nicole Scherzinger did not materialize

Apl.de.ap revealed that he once tried to pursue singer Nicole Scherzinger romantically.

The Black Eyed Peas member recalled attempting to get Nicole’s attention by inviting her over for a home-cooked meal.

“One day I was like, I hit up on her, I’m like, ‘Hey Nicole, you want to come over? I’m gonna cook you chicken adobo?’” he recounted in an interview with Boy Abunda on Fast Talk.

However, Nicole’s response made it clear that she only saw him as an older brother.

“She’s like, ‘Kuya! You’re my kuya!’ I was like aww,” he recounted.

Looking back on Nicole’s response, Apl.de.ap quipped, “You know when they call you ‘kuya,’ it’s over, you know.”

In the same interview, the Black Eyed Peas member also talked about his friendship with Bruno Mars.

“I really wanna do a song with Bruno, so one day,” he added.

Meanwhile, Apl.de.ap recently released his three-track EP titled PPP, which reflects his deep connection to the Philippines.

“It’s all about love—love for our people and our culture, and encouragement to speak up,” he said in a recent interview on 24 Oras.

The rapper hopes his new music will spread optimism. “I’m trying to inspire people with my music with a word of positive affirmation. We hope that things will turn around by helping each other and embracing each other. I had our country in mind when I was writing these songs,” he remarked.

He also reflected on the renewed popularity of the Black Eyed Peas hit “Bebot,” which has gained fresh attention through viral social media content.

He expressed his appreciation for Filipinos worldwide who continue to celebrate the song.

“I just feel really super supported and proud that it’s being embraced by our kabayans around the world. I think a lot of Filipino-Americans and diaspora are discovering themselves and who we are, and we’re being recognized around the world for our culture,” he said.

“I remember writing that song, calling my mom, checking my Tagalog if it was right ’cause I haven’t spoken it in a while, but it’s becoming I’d say it’s an anthem,” he remarked.
