Gelli de Belen gives more context on viral response: ‘Wala akong kinakampihan or kinampihan’
Actress Gelli de Belen broke her silence weeks after her opinion about the Patrick Garcia-Jennylyn Mercado issue broke social media. In the recent episode of their podcast, Wala Pa Rin Kaming Title, the celebrity mother shared her thought process on why she responded that way in a previous interview.
Gelli trended on social media after she expressed her thoughts about the Patrick-Jennylyn issue when she wished the children be spared from the harm that it may cause.
She recalled that she was asked to give a comment about a particular video in a talk show that she appeared in. She maintained that she based her answer from the video that was shown to her and nothing else.
“It was about an interview–– the sensational, famous interview–– and how the netizens were reacting to this video and everybody, yung reaction ng mga tao… Ang tinanong sa akin, ano masasabi sa nangyayari. Hindi ako tinanong ng mga specific questions about whoever’s involved and why it happened mga ganyan,” she explained.
“Kung ano yung nakita ko at kung ano yung mga reaction ng mga tao doon sa interview at sa video. Syempre, ang kontexto ko nito ay yung reaction ng mga tao na talagang very violent and all that,” she added.
Gelli asserted that because of what she was shown in the program, she made sure to prioritize the children from both parties as a mother herself. She assured everyone that she’s not siding with anyone in the particular issue as she has no knowledge about it.
“So natural, may mga batang involved ang una kong pinuntahan ay kung pa paano natin masave yung mga bata sa ganitong klaseng pangyayari… Of course, that’s why I said mga bata. Parehong pamilya, anybody in general basta yung mga batang involved,” she said.
“Mind you, hindi naman talaga ako kasali doon sa issue, nagkataon lang na may prinopromote ako, yun ang issue, sinagot ko at ang pinaka focus ko lang talaga doon is the children,” she continued.
For Gelli, she is confident that the answer she gave in the show had good intentions and didn’t mean to side with anyone.
“Wala akong kinakampihan or kinampihan even on that very day at that very time. Even at this point in time, feeling ko naman walang masama na maging concerned tayo sa magiging effect nito sa mga bata… Yun ang pinaka goal ko lang. I do not have ill will towards anybody. I know I meant well,” she ended.
