Lindsay Lohan brings back Annie and Hallie on their 40th birthday

Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan brought back her iconic characters Hallie Parker and Annie James from the classic film The Parent Trap to celebrate the twins’ supposed 40th birthday on October 11.

On social media, Lindsay delighted fans by stepping back into the roles of the beloved twins in the 1998 film.

“Happy Birthday Hallie & Annie! 💗👯,” Lindsay simply wrote in a caption.

In the video, Lindsay portrayed both characters in a short exchange as they greeted each other on their special day.

“Hi. Hallie! Happy birthday! You know, it’s October 11th,” Lindsay said as Annie, sporting long blonde hair.

Lindsay then appeared as Hallie, wearing her hair in a ponytail, and replied, “Annie, you are so funny. Of course I know it’s October 11. Happy birthday, sis!”

The playful reunion quickly caught the attention of fans, many of whom expressed their excitement at seeing Lindsay bring the iconic twins back to life more than two decades after the film’s release.

“Me watching this as I’m dipping my Oreos in peanut butter 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹,” a fan wrote.

Another one said, “As a twin mom who was obsessed with parent trap (and you!) growing up, I LOVE THIS!!!”

“THIS MADE MY DAY! Happy birthday my fav twin 🥰🥰💖”

“I woke up knowing it was Annie and Hallie’s birthday… will be indulging in Oreos dipped in PB to celebrate.”

“Ok so I guess it’s time to rewatch The Parent Trap! BRB ! Oh and happy birthday girls 🎂❤️”

The reunion also caught the attention of Lindsay’s former co-star Elaine Hendrix, who played Meredith Blake, the woman who was set to marry the twins’ father in the film.

“Happy Birthday 🎂🎂,” she commented

Disney+, meanwhile, joined in on the celebration, writing, “Thank you for this iconic reunion on this iconic day 💙💙.”

They also posted on their social media page a clip from the film where Annie and Hallie found out about being twins: “It’s the twins’ birthday today, so Oreos and peanut butter are mandatory.”

Released in 1998, The Parent Trap is a remake of the 1961 film of the same name. Lindsay starred in the movie as identical twins Annie James and Hallie Parker, who grow up on opposite sides of the Atlantic without knowing they have a sister.

Following their parents’ divorce, their father, Nick Parker, played by Dennis Quaid, raises Hallie in California, while their mother, Elizabeth James, portrayed by Natasha Richardson, raises Annie in London, England.

The twins eventually meet at summer camp and discover that they are sisters who share the same birthday on October 11. After realizing the truth about their family, they hatch a plan to switch identities and bring their estranged parents back together.

Lindsay was only 11 years old when she took on the dual roles, marking one of the defining performances of her early acting career.

In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Elaine and actress Lisa Ann Walter, who played housekeeper Chessy, expressed openness to make The Parent Trap follow-up.

“A lot of people talk about it. A lot of people want it. We’re totally game,” they said during the 77th annual Primetime Emmy Awards in 2025.
