Ina Raymundo on the challenges of portraying Misty in “Sigabo”: “Bring it on!”
As our mighty primetime hero Gabo (Coco Martin), embarks on a new era in “Coco Martin’s Sigabo” as a fearless taxi driver-slash-super secret agent, new personalities are set to be part of this totally exciting chapter of his life!
Among them is Misty Manalo, a member of an organized sexual exploitation and trafficking operation played by seasoned actress Ina Raymundo, who introduces herself as an associate at a modelling agency to her potential targets. Avid viewers of the hit series were given a glimpse of how she operates in episode 83 aired on October 14, as Gabo starts his initial mission of keeping an eye on her by following and observing her—even though it meant putting his charm to work to gain entry to a gym and lifting weights while in his taxi driver uniform.
As we look forward to seeing if Gabo will succeed in infiltrating the syndicate by getting closer to Misty while maintaining his cover, as well as how Misty will impact Gabo’s relationship with his “wife,” Gloria (Julia Montes), CCM Film Productions recently catches up with Ina to ask about her experience so far on being part of “Sigabo” and working alongside the “Hari ng Aksyon sa Ating Henerasyon” in this exclusive video!
When asked how she has been doing, Ina happily replies, “Mabuti at masayang-masaya.” She goes on to add, “Unang-una, masayang-masaya ako kasi hindi ako makapaniwala first time kong makakatrabaho si Direk Coco Martin.”
Having never been part of either “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” or “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” Ina discloses that she was genuinely surprised and incredibly thrilled when she was asked if she was interested in joining “Sigabo.” Ina admits that she’s still in disbelief that the opportunity to work with actor-director Coco has finally come her way, since it seems to be something she has been wishing to happen!
Although she and Coco had seen each other at various events in the past, they had never been formally introduced. As such, the first time Ina finally met Coco was already on the set of “Sigabo.”
Ina further conveys that she remembers in Coco the “King of Philippine Movies” Fernando Poe Jr., whom she fondly refers to as “Kuya Ronnie,” as she sees similarities between them. Among them are a wholesome image, an undeniably likable personality, and a strong connection with the masses. Thus, she believes that Coco could very well be the next “Da King,” as well as carry on FPJ’s enduring and formidable legacy.
As for her role as Misty, Ina reveals that the character is actually her dream role. She enthusiastically relates, “Dream character ko ‘to kasi hindi siya drama, hindi siya heavy drama. Tingnan natin kung ano ang mangyayari. Tingnan natin ang susunod na kabanata.”
“Matagal-tagal na rin noong nakita nila akong mag-action. It has been a while. Sexy din, playful. Hindi mo alam kung kontrabida ba o mabait. Mapapaisip kayo talaga. Misteryoso and a little bit of everything,” she adds, describing Misty as a mysterious, multifaceted character whose true intentions will keep viewers guessing.
Ina also acknowledges that taking on the role will be both exciting and challenging, especially since she has not done an action project in quite some time. She teasingly conveys, “I know it’s going to work well for me, it’s going to be challenging. I have not done action in a while. Paano ko maju-justify ’yong character ko? [That’s the challenge for me]. Bring it on!”
