Much to the fan’s surprise, IU responded, “I have a performance in Manila, and I’ll be doing it for two days.”

While further details about the concert, including the specific venue and schedule, have yet to be announced, IU’s confirmation was enough to send Filipino fans into a frenzy as they look forward to seeing the South Korean star perform live once again.

With that, here are the reasons why fans are especially excited for IU’s upcoming world tour stop in the Philippines.

She is returning to the Philippines for the first time since 2024.

One of the biggest reasons IU’s return to the Philippines is highly anticipated is that it has been two years since Filipino UAENAs last saw her perform live in the country.

The singer-actress last held a concert in the Philippines on June 1, 2024, at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan as part of her H.E.R.E.H. World Tour.

This marks her first visit to the Philippines since When Life Gives You Tangerines was released.

IU’s upcoming visit will also mark her first time returning to the Philippines since starring in Netflix’s global hit series When Life Gives You Tangerines. This gives fans who discovered her through the series the chance to see the singer-actress perform live for the first time.

In the series, IU portrays two characters: Oh Ae-sun, Gwan-sik’s love interest who later becomes his wife, and Yang Geum-myeong, the couple’s eldest child and only daughter.

She confirmed that she will perform in the Philippines for two days.

Another reason Filipino UAENAs have more to look forward to is that IU will be performing in the Philippines for two days, giving more fans the chance to see her live.

This will also mark the first time IU holds a two-day concert in the Philippines. Her previous shows in the country were each held for one day: the Love, Poem Tour on December 13, 2019, at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, and the H.E.R.E.H. World Tour on June 1, 2024, at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.

She has expressed how much she enjoys performing for Filipino fans.

Of course, the pressure is on for Filipino UAENAs to make IU’s upcoming concert just as memorable as her previous shows in the country. The singer-actress has been vocal about her love for Filipino fans, often expressing how much she enjoys performing in front of their energetic and passionate crowds.

Following her Love, Poem concert in Manila in December 2019, IU described the city as a “City of Passion,” saying the audience’s energy felt like a festival. She even declared, “I will bet everything that no one can beat Manila”.

“And then I went to Manila. I almost felt like I was born in Manila. I received such incredible and amazing support there. Just thinking about Manila still gives vibrations in my ear. I came out and I couldn’t hear my voice. I was wearing in-ears but the cheer was so loud,” she said in one of her vlogs.

And those are just four of the countless reasons Filipino UAENAs are excited for IU’s return. After two years, fans are ready to welcome the singer-actress back with the same passion and energy she has always loved.
