Sassa Gurl responds to Imelda Schweighart’s remarks on LGBTQIA+ community

Sassa Gurl said Imelda Schweighart’s remarks about the LGBTQIA+ community is what motivates her to make more films like “Multwoh,” which center on queer representation.

The beauty queen previously said she felt “THREATENED BY GAYS AND TRANS. Its scary coz you are men,” and, “Sa Pilipinas mo lang makikita na celebrated ang pagsaling bakla sa pageant ng mga babae.”

Schweighart also made a post that read, “Pills don’t make you a woman, [slur].”

“Ako naman, I have my own lived experience and she has her own opinion. Naniniwala ako kaya mas marami discussions ino-open up, marami pa tao hindi nakakaintindi ng lived experience namin. Naniniwala ako na malayo pa tatahakin namin para maintindihan kami and mabigyan ng pansin,” she said in an interview held during the red carpet for the commercial premiere of “Multwoh.”

“It is a common thing na may nagsasabi ng thing against us more reason for us to make films and stories.” 

While admitting they still have a long way to go, the content creator said she is happy to see more stories that reflect and highlight their experiences.

“Marami pang storya mga queer people, trans people, happy ako to be part of it. Happy ako madami istorya para sa amin,” she said.

“Multwoh,” a crowd favorite from the CinePanalo Film Festival, is showing in different cinemas beginning October 21. It is the first entry from the 2026 festival to get a commercial release.
