According to an initial police investigation by the Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO), the incident occurred at around 11:45 a.m. on L. Sumulong Memorial Circle in Barangay San Roque.

The victim was rushed to a hospital but later died from her injuries, according to Antipolo Chief of Police PLt. Col. Mark Garcia and Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares.

In a Facebook post, Ynares said, “Ang biktima, na misis ng suspek, ay naisugod sa ospital ngunit kinalaunan ay binawian din siya ng buhay.”

Authorities said the victim and the suspect had earlier met at the Human Resources Office of the Rizal Provincial Government to discuss a complaint involving their agreement with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regarding financial support for their children.

After the discussion, the suspect reportedly returned to his assigned post at the entrance of the Ynares Center.

Police said that upon seeing the victim, the suspect allegedly drew his issued firearm and shot her multiple times.

Responding officers, with the assistance of members of the provincial government’s security group, arrested the suspect and seized the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.

*Rizal Gov. Nina Ynares expressed condolences to the victim’s family and assured the public that authorities are taking the incident seriously.*

The governor said the provincial government has coordinated with the victim’s relatives and offered legal assistance to help them pursue the case.

She added that the provincial government would shoulder expenses related to the victim’s funeral and burial.

The Antipolo Component City Police Station has sought assistance from the Rizal Provincial Forensic Unit to conduct a crime scene examination and other forensic procedures as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities are preparing the appropriate charges against the suspect following the victim’s death.
