Navotas holds annual Christmas Tree lighting, opens bazaar
The Navotas City government held the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony and the opening of the Christmas Bazaar at the Navotas Citywalk and Ampitheater on Monday, Nov. 22.
“It has been more than a year since we enjoyed the outdoors. Our people deserve this, especially since they have been very supportive in keeping our cases down. However, we must continue to be careful and to follow the health protocols because the danger of contracting COVID remains,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.
The event, which started at around 6:00 p.m., was filled with song and dance performances of Navotas City scholars.
The Christmas Bazaar which features different local products also opened during the event.
Rep. John Rey Tiangco encouraged the citizens to support local brands and micro businesses to help their fellow “Navoteños” recover financially from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The bazaar is open until Dec. 23, from 5 p.m. to 12 p.m.
The local government also inaugurated the Pascador Park in Brgy. Balungkasi, Green Zone Park in the North Bay Boulevard North (NBBN), and the NBBN Elementary School Multi-purpose Hall.
Tiangco urged the residents to keep the parks clean as they serve as venues for families to safely bond amid the pandemic.
