Contributed via Bea CuadraMANILA — Authorities and family members are currently searching for a 21-year-old 4th-year Multimedia Arts student after her family reported her missing following her departure from their house in Barangay Pinagsama, Taguig City, on Saturday.
The missing student, identified as Mikaela Julian, was last seen by her family on October 24.
Her older sister, Daniella Julian, recalled seeing her in their room around 10:00 a.m. before she left the house.
“Huling nakita ko yung kapatid ko noong October 24, around 10 a.m. kasi nandun pa ako,” Daniella said. “I think umalis siya ng bahay and then hindi siya nagpaalam sa parents ko.”
Reviewing security cameras in their neighborhood, the family spotted Mikaela walking past 11:00 a.m. that same day along their street.
“So, may nakita kami mga bandang 11.14 a.m. ng Saturday na naglalakad siya, naka-pink… With shorts, pink t-shirt, naka-shorts, then may hawak na payong, saka may malit na bag na black,” her father, Tom Julian, said.
Upon checking their house, Tom discovered the exact slippers seen in the video, indicating that his daughter managed to return home after that time.
According to Tom, Mikaela’s grandmother later saw her leaving the residence again around noon, wearing a dark t-shirt, jogging pants, and rubber shoes.
The family confirmed these specific items of clothing were missing from their home.
Later that evening, around 8:00 p.m., Mikaela sent a text message to her mother.
“Pero around 8pm, nag-text na siya sa mom ko na parang lowbat na daw siya, nasa BGC lang siya, naglalakad-lakad,” Daniella explained. “And lolowbat na siya and hindi na siya matatawagan pa if ever tumawag yung mom ko. Ayun po, yung huli namin contact from her.”
Tom noted that his daughter’s text asked them not to call because she was already on her way home.
Assured by her message, the family waited at home. However, when she failed to arrive by 11:00 p.m., and attempts to reach her phone were unsuccessful.
“So, doon pa lang, medyo na ano na ko na, oh, ba’t hindi na siya natatawagan?” Tom recalled. After remaining awake through the night in hopes of her return, the family reported her disappearance to the police the following morning.
In an effort to trace her whereabouts, the family reached out to her friends, gained access to her social media accounts, and checked her emails.
Distressed by her absence, the family issued emotional pleas for her safe return.
“I hope kung nasaan ka man ngayon, I hope safe ka, you’re with just a friend. Pero please bumalik ka na sa bahay namin kasi sobrang nag-aalala si mama at si papa,” Daniella said.
“Kung saan ka man, Micaela, alalang alala na talaga kami sayo,” her father said. “Sana makabalik ka na or di kaya mag-text ka man lang, magparamdam ka.”
Meanwhile, the family stated that authorities are coordinating with them to search for Mikaela’s whereabouts.
