Ate Gay passes away at 55

Comedian Gil Aducal Morales, widely known and loved as Ate Gay, has passed away. She was 55.  

Her family confirmed the news in a Facebook announcement on November 1, expressing their grief over the loss of the entertainer who brought laughter to many. 

“It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that our family announces the 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 of our 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗚𝗶𝗹 𝗔𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀, lovingly known to many as 𝗔𝘁𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝘆, on 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲,” the family wrote. 

“After bravely fighting for his life, while surrounded by his family, our beloved Ate Gay has peacefully passed away,” they shared. 

The family also expressed their gratitude to everyone who supported them throughout Ate Gay’s medical journey, including those who offered prayers, financial assistance, and words of encouragement. 

“During this difficult time, our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who extended their prayers, love, financial assistance, and unwavering support throughout his battle. Your kindness and generosity have meant so much to our family.” 

They continued: “We kindly ask for your continued prayers for his eternal repose and for strength and comfort for our grieving family.”  

“Rest peacefully in the loving arms of our Lord, Ate Gay. You will forever remain in our hearts. 

With love and gratitude, The Family of Gil Aducal Morales,” her family ended.  

Ate Gay’s passing came after her battle with Stage 4 cancer, which she announced on September last year. 

By November 2025, Ate Gay said she already “graduated” from radiation and chemotherapy. 

In June, the comedian said she no longer has lumps on her neck and nose following her continued medical treatment and after undergoing MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging). 

However, just this late October, her family disclosed that she had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) while in critical condition after suffering from septic shock and acute respiratory failure secondary to pneumonia. 

She had also suffered a stroke that affected the right side of her brain. Amid her worsening condition and the continuing medical expenses, her family appealed to the public for prayers and financial assistance. 

At the time, they also urged netizens to refrain from spreading false reports about her death, emphasizing that she was still fighting for her life in the hospital. 

Before her passing, Ate Gay also caught the attention of social media users after holding a “Celebration of Life,” an event that took inspiration from a traditional wake but was held while she was still alive. 

The gathering brought together friends and loved ones who shared memories, tributes, and messages for the comedian. In photos posted on her social media accounts, Ate Gay was seen dressed in white and seated on a sofa, surrounded by flowers and photographs of herself. 

The celebration gave those close to her an opportunity to express their love and appreciation for her while she was still with them. 

Details of her wake and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by her family.
