Kira Balinger grateful for Julie Vega role: ‘I was absolutely over the moon!’

Kapamilya actress Kira Balinger expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to portray late actress Julie Vega in a Halloween special of Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS), with viewers praising her striking resemblance to the beloved star.

On her Instagram page, Kira shared behind-the-scenes moments from the Gabi ng Lagim segment, where she reenacted scenes from Julie’s horror film.

“When this opportunity first came my way, I was absolutely over the moon! 🤩 For the longest time, people have told me that I bear a resemblance to the late Julie Vega. To be compared to someone fondly remembered as the ‘Princess of Soap Operas’ is already such an honor in itself,” Kira wrote.

She also shared how much the experience meant to her, saying, “I honestly can’t put into words how grateful I am to have been given the opportunity to portray a part of her life. It’s an experience I’ll hold close to my heart. ♥️”

The actress then thanked those who showed their appreciation for her portrayal. “Maraming salamat po, KMJS, for giving me this wonderful opportunity! 🙏🏼 And to everyone who watched, appreciated, and shared kind words about my portrayal, maraming salamat po! Your love and support mean so much to me. 🥺🙏🏼🤍”

Kira caught viewers’ attention with her portrayal of Julie in the Halloween episode, particularly in the reenactment of a scene associated with the late actress’s final film, Lovingly Yours, Helen: The Movie.

Julie’s final film has long been the subject of stories surrounding alleged paranormal occurrences during its production. Rumors about a supposed possession during filming have contributed to the enduring mystery surrounding the actress’s final days. Julie died in 1985 at the age of 16.

Following the episode, viewers took to social media to note Kira’s resemblance to Julie, as well as her ability to capture the late actress’s movements and acting style. Some also expressed their hopes of seeing her take on more horror projects or portray Julie in a possible biographical film.
