MANILA — The CCTV system at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) was officially turned over to the San Miguel Corporation-led New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC) on Friday.

The handover followed a directive from the Department of Transportation (DOTr) after it found that not all CCTV cameras had been formally transferred to NNIC when it took over the airport’s operations and management in 2024.

DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon said some 2,100 cameras installed across the entire NAIA complex are now all under the operational control of NNIC.

“Kapag may insidente, meron nang established protocols ano ang gagawin sa footage, paano mag-imbestiga para ma-pinpoint ng mabilis sino ‘yung may sala at mai-coordinate agad sa law enforcement,” Dizon said.

“Hopefully with this, bibilis tayo at matatakot na rin ‘yung mga tao dito na may planong gawing kalokohan,” he said.

NNIC will develop an integration plan to incorporate the newly transferred CCTV cameras into its existing airport security and operations systems.

The airport complex will also undergo a reassessment to identify any remaining blind spots that may require additional CCTV coverage.
