Duterte: ‘Otso Diretso headed for hell’

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte lashed out at the oppostion Otso Diretso’s aspiring senators, saying they will go “straight to hell” for their endless criticisms against his administration.
Speaking at a rally of Partido Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) in Zamboanga City on Sunday, Duterte said the opposition’s candidates did nothing but criticize him and his policies.
“Sinong ipalit mo diyan sa ‘yang ‘Otso Diretso’ papuntang impyerno (Who will you vote instead of that Eight Straight to hell)?,” Duterte said, referring to the Otso Diretso slate, a line-up composed of Liberal Party (LP) and other groups critical of the administration.
“Totoo lang, hindi ako na-ano. If eh — walang ginawa ‘yang mga tao na ‘yan puro criticize, hindi pa maniwala (To be honest, I’m not – Those people do nothing but criticize, and they don’t even believe you),” he said.
Backed by Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo, the opposition’s eight-man ticket was composed of Sen. Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino 4th, Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano, former Interior secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas 2nd, former Quezon representative Erin Tañada, former solicitor general Florin Hilbay, Marawi civic leader Samira Gutoc, human rights lawyer Jose Manuel “Chel” Diokno and election lawyer Romulo Macalintal.
In his speech, Duterte compared the opposition candidates to his own, claiming they paled in comparison and have not helped the Moros.
“Ngayon kung hindi niyo iboto ‘yan, ewan ko lang. Ipalit ninyo dito? Roxas, Alejano, Aquino, Hilbay, Macalintal (Now if you don’t vote for them, I don’t know anymore. You’ll replace them with these? Roxas, Alejano, Hilbay, Macalintal),” Duterte said.
“Magpunta ‘yan doon sa Lanao. Ah wala, putulan ko ng ulo mga ‘to. Walang kuwentang mga tao. Wala namang nagawa para sa aming mga Moro (When they go to Lanao, I’ll behead them. These worthless people. They have done nothing for us Moros),” he said.
Duterte is endorsing his former top aide Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, his former political adviser Francis Tolentino, former Senate president Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel 3rd, former police chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, Maguindanao Rep. Zajid “Dong” Mangudadatu, reelectionists Cynthia Villar, Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, and Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito, Taguig Rep.Pilar Juliana Pia Cayetano, Ilocos Norte Gov. Maria Imeleda Josefa “Imee” Marcos, singer Freddie Aguilar, and former Interior Secretary Raffy Alunan.
