PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte warned that unless the problem with the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) was addressed, investors won’t be interested in dealing with the Philippines.

In a speech during the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino- Lakas ng Bayan Zamboanga campaign rally on Sunday night, Duterte underscored the need to rid the country of the terrorist group.

“If they are not cleared here [in the country,] everybody who wants to invest in the Philippines will never do that. So we cannot be productive,” Duterte said.

Duterte also shot down any chance of his administration of ever talking to the group.

“Abu Sayyaf, we do not understand each other. I cannot for the life of me imagine me talking to them after all what they have done. Decapitating everyone,” Duterte said.

“My soldiers were Moro. No, they are not choosing who to kill. They have no ideology except to kill and destroy,” he said. RALPH U. VILLANUEVA
