EchoNine Playlist: Janine Gutierrez and Jericho Rosales share their ultimate go-to tracks
As they intensify our weeknights with suspense-filled thriller “The Loyalty Game: Level Up,” lead stars Janine Gutierrez and Jericho Rosales kept the challenge going on the hit community singing game show “Everybody, Sing!” EchoNine stole hearts with their duet of “Makita Kang Muli,” originally sung by Sugarfree and later revived by Jericho in 2012.
Headlining the “Singko Blanko” segment, Janine and Jericho teamed up with four chosen “repre-sing-tatives” from the Songbayanang Baseco Compound Residents, successfully completing the missing lyrics to the Eraserheads’ “Ang Huling El Bimbo.”
Following their fun stint on “Everybody, Sing!,” Janine and Jericho gave us a glimpse into their videoke favorites, taping essentials, and more in this ABS-CBN Studios exclusive interview.
For her go-to karaoke picks, Janine admitted that she often raps along to Salbakuta’s “Stupid Love” before turning to rock anthems like Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and Heart’s “Alone.” She added that songs by Adele also make it to her karaoke list.
Jericho, meanwhile, proves to be a certified OPM lover. Whenever he grabs the mic, he goes straight for Eraserheads classics like “Ang Huling El Bimbo,” “With a Smile,” and “Magasin.” He also mixes in Oasis’ “Wonderwall” and his own hit, “Pusong Ligaw.”
When asked about the songs they jam to on the way to work, Jericho jokingly chose Semisonic’s 1998 hit “Closing Time,” quipping, “Iniisip ko pack-up na agad eh.” Upbeat tracks—especially disco—help keep his mood up during taping, although his playlist depends on the scene. “Mga emotional songs ‘yung pakikinggan namin. Pero kung masaya lang, pop songs,” he shared.
Janine, on the other hand, gravitates toward instrumentals rather than lyrical tracks. “Minsan ‘yung mga walang lyrics na lo-fi, like morning jazz para relax muna,” she shared.
When it comes to working out, the “The Loyalty Game” stars revealed the beats that keep them moving. “’Yung workout ko, dance workouts ako palagi,” Jericho said. He usually kicks things off with Bruno Mars hits like “Uptown Funk” before shifting to yacht rock. “That’s how I get the energy that I need para mag-work out.”
As for Janine, her current playlist features Harry Styles’ latest album, “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.” She added that her gym coach knows her well, often blasting Taylor Swift tracks when she arrives—perfectly matching her workout mood.
