I absolutely appreciate the network of charging stations that Electrify America is providing. I used the network almost exclusively in a 4 state drive with a short-range electric vehicle (EV). I drove the 2015 BMW i3 from Electrify America charging station to charging station from deep in Florida to the Appalachians and then back. I had some problems, some small delays, but never had to leave any group of stations without a charge. Yet, I think my suggestions should be taken seriously

The Model 3 is the standout, Zen-of-zero-emissions electric vehicle that is meeting peoples hopes and wishes straight on. Even though I don’t have a Model 3, I’d agree with anyone singing Model 3 praises. Although day one of BMW i3’s long-distance journey to Appalachia from the Gulf Coast of Florida was documented a bit in an earlier post, I will backtrack a moment to day zero. I don’t have a lot of range in this small electric car. It does have a small gas tank in time of low range to get you to the next charging station, but planning is certainly needed. I had mapped out my route on a MacBook Air, but the computer’s mood (or light) dropped the morning I was to leave the Sunshine State. The screen was black even though it seemed the Mac was running. To begin, I want to thank my personal patron saint of long-distance small-EV travel, Zachary Shahan. Last June, when my family and I moved to Florida from Poland, we couldn’t afford the Tesla Model 3. Well, I could afford it as far as my calculations went, and it seemed to me that it made the most financial sense, especially with the $7500 tax credit still available, but I couldn’t get a loan for the amount needed for some reason. I’ve long loved the BMW i3 (I think it was the first electric car I drove, which made it extra special), and you could find wicked deals on used i3s because they had depreciated so much.
